Copernicus, Galileo, Religion And Science

Abstract: 4 pages in length. The significance of this statement is found within an analysis of Galileo's attempts to defend heliocentrism while at the same time not push away the Church, a rather strenuous challenge that compelled Galileo to wage one of the most important fights for all of mankind. What this suggests about the relationship between religion and science in the 17th century how volatile the idea was to even contemplate such notions as those put forth by Galileo much less attempt to indoctrinate them into accepted practice.
