Abstract: 16 pages in length. Sexual orientation is no longer a private matter. Instead, contemporary society has taken it upon itself to scrutinize, judge and condemn the most private part of an individual's existence and deem him or her unworthy of acceptance under traditional social dictates. The overwhelming intolerance inherently associated with homosexuality is akin to the overwhelming cultural intolerance experienced for centuries; with gays, lesbians and the transgendered community representing today's particular focus of social prejudice, one can readily argue that since the idea of race has to everything to do with a community of people, homosexuals have earned the right to call themselves a race.
