Portrait of the Classic Athenian Woman

Abstract: This 10 page paper provides a great deal of detailed information about the woman of Athens. The women were expected to be wives, and if they did not marry, the alternative was generally some form of prostitution. The women of Ancient Greece are compared to the contemporary woman.
