Marxist Theory and Contemporary Societal Stratification

Abstract: A 5 page of Marxist theory and how that theory pertains to contemporary social stratification. The author of this paper contends that although our contemporary society appears to be evolving toward a society of classes composed of the very rich and the very poor, there continues to exist a definitive middle class. Even when compared to the theories of Max Weber, multidimensional theories of social stratification, our society differs significantly. The reasons for this difference relate to the fact that civil rights in America today are quantum leaps ahead of what they were during the lifetimes of these two men.
