Descartes: His Analysis of Melting Beeswax

Abstract: 5 pages. This paper examines Descartes' analysis of the perception of melting beeswax and what it might really prove. We must wonder if he has gone too far when he infers that the nature of the wax is "in no way revealed" by the senses and that the perception is by the "mind alone." Other considerations will be his arguments about his awareness of himself as a thinking thing in his second mediation. Bibliography lists 1 source.
