The History and Evolution of the British Pub

Abstract: A nine page paper which traces the development of the British pub as a cultural institution from Roman times up to the present day. The writer looks at the changes brought about by industrialisation, changes in musical tastes, the yuppie-culture of the 1980s and the growth of the club scene in the 1990s, and the way in which the British pub is beginning to return to its traditional roots. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
