Men In Nursing

Abstract: A 5 page paper. Nursing has historically been perceived as a female profession but this is an inaccurate perception. Prior to Florence Nightingale, males dominated this profession. This paper provides some statistics about the proportion of nurses who are males, beginning in the 1960s. There are more men entering nursing schools but the proportion of male working nurses is still in the single digits. The writer also explains some of the reasons for this great gender disparity. 1 table is included. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
