Should Burning the Flag be a Crime ?

Abstract: A 4 page essay in which the writer argues that although thematically disrespectful, a 'flag burning amendment' is merely an example of national insecurity, not patriotism. It is asserted that more important rights precede such an amendment and that there is no viable reason to punish people for burning the American flag as an act of free expression. The flag is a symbol of freedom but it, in itself, is not freedom. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
